SnS Summer Salad
If this heat wave is killing your appetite, you’re not alone. Your appetite is controlled by your hypothalamus, which prioritizes biological processes according to current conditions. When your body is trying to sweat, it prioritizes keeping your body temperature cool. Since the digestive process also generates a considerable amount of heat, it suppresses the appetite in an effort to reduce the overall workload on your body.
But the worst thing you can do for your energy and hormones (especially when you’re already feeling the dehydration fatigue) is under-eat. Instead, make a conscious effort to prep foods that are refreshing and appetizing like smoothies with all the mix ins to get the calories in or this pasta salad loaded with probiotics, probiotics and all the protein, carbs and healthy fats to optimize digestion and keep you feeling fuelled.
BBQ whole chicken (or use a rotisserie chicken)
Cooked pasta (I used @chickapeapasta)
For the sauce, I combined about 3/4 cup of BBQ sauce with 3/4 cup plain @yoggu.foods (or use a Greek yogurt if you’re not allergic to dairy), 1/4 cup of @chosenfoods vegan mayo and a few tbsps of honey.
If you’re a flavour fan, I used MASSIVE quantities of all the fresh herbs listed in this dish (fun fact: a sprinkle of most herbs contain more nutrient density than a serving of broccoli).
